Reduce The Appearance of Fine Lines and Wrinkles

Reasons to Choose Xanadu Med Spa For Your Botox® Injections:

What are Botox® Injections

BOTOX® Cosmetic is the first and only FDA-approved prescription product that temporarily improves the appearance of both moderate to severe frown lines between the brows and moderate to severe crow’s feet in adults.

Botox is a therapeutic muscle-relaxing agent obtained from a bacterium called Clostridium Botulinum. For more than a decade, ophthalmologists have used Botox to treat blepharospasm (abnormal blinking of the eyelids). Doctors have also used Botox for many years to safely reduce the appearance of frown lines and facial wrinkles. Botox is the go-to treatment for those who want guaranteed results with little recovery time, which is why it is so popular. In fact, over 7 million botox injectables are given every year in the US.

The movements and contractions of facial muscles are controlled by signals from our brain. Botox keeps the muscles from responding to the signals. Consequently, the muscles relax, and the skin remains smooth and unwrinkled. Unlike a face lift or other kind of invasive facial rejuvenation procedure, treatment takes minutes and requires zero downtime. Using a very fine needle, BOTOX® is injected into the facial muscles that are responsible for unsightly wrinkles and fine lines and relaxes the muscles. The ingredients in Botox block the signal from the nerve to the muscle, and therefore reduce its ability to contract.

How Do Botox® & Jeauveau® Injections Work?

Well, the primary mechanism behind the treatment is your biology. The reason why these injections are so effective at reducing signs of aging such as wrinkles is based on practical biological responses. Your brain sends millions of signals throughout your body on a daily basis, and many of these cause involuntary movement in the face muscles, eyes, and mouth. These minute movements are what cause wrinkles and forehead lines over time.

We can effectively block these signals from reaching your facial muscles by injecting Botox or Jeauveau, a neurotoxin. This prevents involuntary movements from happening throughout the day and causes your face to relax. This results in a smoother, softer expression in the face. Botox & Jeauveau are most effective when used on the forehead to combat frown lines, around the eyes to combat crow’s feet, and around the mouth and chin, as these are all areas that move without a thought in response to your brain’s signals.

What to Expect From Botox & Jeauveau Injections?

A lot of people put off having Botox injections because they are unsure of what happens during the procedure and what to expect afterward. During the procedure, your practitioner will inject the botox into the desired areas. This can be a little bit uncomfortable, but you won’t need an anesthetic, and the discomfort will go away quickly. The procedure is done in the doctor’s office and the majority of patients have no problem resuming their routines immediately after the procedure. Many patients even return to work after leaving the doctor’s office!

While the area does not need to be numbed during the procedure, many patients request to have it numbed. In these cases, the doctor can apply a prescription numbing cream approximately 60 minutes prior to the procedure, or inject the area with a numbing agent. After the numbing effect is achieved, Botox is administered to the tissue via a fine needle. The Botox injection process itself is completed within a matter of minutes. In terms of recovery time, you may have some swelling of the skin around the injection site and some redness, but this will fade quickly, usually in around 20 minutes or less. If you are particularly sensitive, you may experience some bruising around the treated area that disappears in a day or two.

How Do We Decide How Many Units Of Botox To Use?

First and most importantly, we sit down with you to discuss your desired results. Then we take into consideration your age, sex, and the areas that need treatment. As noted above, the number of units varies between patients and will be thoroughly explained during your consultation.
