What Is EmFace by BTL?
EmFace is a revolution in facial treatments that utilizes two therapies to provide strong results. EmFace simultaneously emits RF and HIFESTM energies, allowing it to tighten and lift the skin while it simultaneously treats facial muscles. The result is similar to a traditional face lift, just without the need for needles.
How Does EmFace Therapy Work?
EmFace utilizes a special type of High-Intensity Facial Electrical Stimulation, known as HIFES to contract delicate facial muscles. It also utilizes radiofrequency and electromagnetic stimulation on the muscles known as the “elevators”, the frontalis and the zygomaticus minor and major. These muscles elevate parts of your face, such as the corners of your mouth and the corners of your eyes.
By causing these muscles to contract, they become stronger and more toned, and this leaves a fuller-looking face, with fewer wrinkles and more lift.
What Are the Benefits of EmFace?
EmFace can help you achieve a more youthful looking face by reducing wrinkles and tightening the muscles that become less toned as we age. This makes it the perfect treatment for anyone that likes the idea of a non-invasive face lift without the need for any injectables or needles.
What Part of the Face Does EmFace Work on?
The most noticeable results from this treatment occur in the corners of the mouth and eyes, as well as the brow and cheeks. Plus, by increasing collagen and elastin fibers, the skin on the face will look tighter.
How Many EmFace Sessions Does it Take to See Results?
For most clients, EmFace therapy calls for four 20 minute treatments, with each treatment spaced seven days apart, will be the norm. This allows for strong results, with an immediate lifting effect after the very first treatment. These results will get stronger over the next 12 weeks.
Every client is unique, with different skin types, ages, and goals. Some patients may need more than the four treatments, and some may need less. The best way to know is to contact one of our team and arrange for a free consultation and evaluation.
Most clients will be encouraged to do one round of treatment per year for the best possible results to be maintained throughout.
What Does an EmFace Treatment Feel Like?
During your treatment, first there will be a grounding pad applied to your back. This allows for the radiofrequency circuit to be completed. Next, the applicators are applied to the forehead and cheeks.
The machine will then begin to warm up and as it does, the radiofrequency begins. Most patients note this as a warm sensation, paired with a pulsing feeling as the muscles contract. There is zero pain involved with this treatment and patients are free to kill time as they see fit. Some patients read a book or catch up on emails over the 20-minute period.
Once the pads have been removed, patients may find their skin is slightly red, but this disappears within 5 minutes, and patients are free to go about their daily lives immediately.
Are There Any Risks Associated With EmFace?
Unlike more invasive treatments, the only risks associated with EmFace are for patients who have medical implants or pacemakers. These individuals are not allowed to receive the EmFace treatment as the metal can interfere with the electromagnetic waves.
You should always discuss your medical background with your estheticians before undergoing any round of treatment.
Who are the Best Candidates for EmFace?
EmFace is the perfect treatment for anyone who wants an alternative to fillers or Botox. Those with deep wrinkles and frown lines will see better results than those with milder wrinkles.
Emface can also be used in conjunction with other treatments, making it a good add-on to an existing treatment plan.

How Does the EmFace Treatment Compare to Botox?
Botox is a neurotoxin injection that causes the muscles in the face to relax. This prevents them from moving, reducing wrinkles and lifting the face. Botox takes around 7 days to fully kick in and causes immediate effects. It wears off in around 4 months and by 6 months, further treatment will be needed.
EmFace provides an immediate lift as soon as the treatment has been carried out. There is a similar effect to Botox, but patients will have more movement in their face. EmFace is a more natural looking treatment compared to Botox.
One of the main differences is that EmFace does not require injectables or needles. You will not need your face numbed and there will be no bruising or pain.
