What Is Opus Plasma Skin Resurfacing?
Opus Plasma skin resurfacing treatment is a cosmetic treatment designed to reduce the signs of aging, acne, scarring, and other skin concerns.
The Opus Plasma machine combines radiofrequency energy with plasma energy which emits from the machine’s metal pins onto the desired area of the skin. This procedure is usually carried out on the neck and facial skin, however, it can be used on most parts of the body.
Once the skin is layered with a topical anesthetic to prevent pain and discomfort, the pins are passed slowly over the skin’s surface. As the pins lightly pulsate on the skin, the machine gets to work.
In the same way as traditional laser treatments, plasma technology removes the surface layers of the skin in order to make way for the new rejuvenated skin layers. In other words, Opus Plasma produces controlled and slightly damaged wounds in the skin that kick-start the normal cellular healing processes.
In comparison to other laser treatments, the Opus Plasma treatment minimizes the amount of irritation and subsequent redness that usually follow other laser treatments.
Who Is the Ideal Patient for Opus Plasma Treatment?
Opus Plasma laser skin resurfacing can be used on most skin types. Whether you have dry, oily, or sensitive, this treatment can most likely work for you.
A person suffering from a variety of skin conditions including scarring is a good candidate for laser skin resurfacing in general and can benefit greatly from undergoing Opus Plasma treatments.
The ideal candidate for this treatment is an older individual looking to minimize wrinkles and general signs of aging including age spots and fine lines.
How Does Opus Plasma Treatment Reduce the Signs of Ageing?
This treatment offers a variety of benefits for anyone willing to try it. The most notable benefits of laser skin resurfacing include the anti-aging effects that the treatment has.
As the pins of the Opus Plasma machine touch the skin, they stimulate collagen production. Collagen helps strengthen the skin by increasing its elasticity and overall hydration.
New collagen produced in facial skin can lead to the client having visibly more youthful-looking skin and can decrease fine lines and wrinkles in general.
Can Opus Plasma Treatment Help With Acne Scars?
Not only can the Opus Plasma laser skin resurfacing treatment reduce the signs of aging, but it can also help minimize the appearance of acne scarring.
Acne can be a huge insecurity for many and can often feel impossible to manage. Luckily, opus plasma skin resurfacing can directly tackle the scars and skin blemishes that are often left behind by spotty skin.
The laser treatment tightens the skin to minimize the appearance of acne scars and hyperpigmentation, which can improve skin tone and leave patients with glowing skin.
What Other Benefits Does This Treatment Offer?
Our Opus Plasma skin treatment can aid the improvement of a range of skin conditions and scarring.
For example, surgical scars are often an inevitable result of undergoing surgery. Although mostly unavoidable, these scars can cause insecurity for many people, especially during the summer months when we tend to wear less clothing due to the heat.
Also, many women both young and old develop stretch marks when their skin stretches or shrinks quickly. Stretch marks are often more prevalent in women during and after pregnancy.
If you’re looking to reduce the appearance of stretch marks or surgical scars on the body, then Opus Plasma may be an ideal treatment for you.
What Can I Expect When Undergoing Opus Plasma Laser Skin Resurfacing Treatment?
Each Opus Plasma session lasts approximately between 15 to 30 minutes. This may vary depending on the area being treated. That is, the more skin that needs to be treated, the longer the procedure may take.
In order to minimize pain, a member of staff will offer a topical anesthetic to rub over the soon-to-be-treated areas of the skin.
Once the anesthetic has set in, an experienced member of staff will glide the Opus Plasma handpiece over the skin to treat the chosen areas.
For optimal results, we recommend that our patients undergo 2 to 3 more sessions after their first appointment.
What Is the Downtime for This Treatment?
On average, the downtime for this treatment lasts between 24-72 hours. The treated skin is likely to be red and/or swollen after the procedure, however, this should subside a few days after the appointment.
Although the procedure involves minimal downtime, we recommend discussing the recovery process during your initial consultation with one of our members of staff as the recovery time may vary depending on factors such as age and skin type.
Soon after the procedure, the skin may be sensitive as it repairs from the microtears that the machine has caused. Therefore, we highly recommend using sunscreen with SPF 50+ to protect the skin from sun damage.
We also recommend that our clients stay well hydrated after the treatment and keep the skin moisturized whenever possible.
Does the Opus Plasma Procedure Hurt?
The short answer is – only a little.
The anesthetic significantly reduces the pain and the intensity of the machine can be altered to suit each patient.
Besides, the procedure only lasts for a maximum of 30 minutes, so any pain or discomfort felt during the treatment is definitely temporary.
You may discuss any doubts or fears you may have about the procedure with one of our licensed professionals during your free consultation so that you feel completely comfortable about the treatment before starting.
