Welcome to part two of our three-part series in which we highlight our three most commonly-used fillers and injectables — Botox, Juvederm, and KYBELLA®. In our previous post, we took the time to point out that receiving a Botox treatment, in Fort Collins from Xanadu or otherwise, involves only a mild amount of pain and a minimum amount of time for the treatment to be completed. We have had many patients receive Fort Collins botox treatment in a matter of minutes, with them returning to work right after the procedure!
However, we aren’t going to discuss the intricacies of Botox in today’s post. Instead, today is all about Juvederm and their collection of dermal fillers. Today we will discuss hyaluronic acid, what you can expect from Juvederm in terms of both procedure and results, and more!
But before we dive into the details of Juvederm in particular, allow us a few words about dermal fillers and hyaluronic acid, so that our readers have a working knowledge of what actually happens during a treatment.
The Artistry Of Fillers
At Xanadu Med Spa of Fort Collins, we only use dermal fillers derived from hyaluronic acid. “HA,” as it is often called, is a natural, gelatinous substance that is found in skin, joints, and eyes. Functioning as a sort of natural lubricant, hyaluronic acid behaves like a sponge, absorbing water at a remarkable rate. But the real reason behind using HA is that the substance binds with collagen to provide a supplemental structure, volume, and elasticity to the skin. This means most everyone who uses fillers with hyaluronic acid can experience skin that looks more radiant, fresh, and healthy.
As our bodies age, we lose our inherent ability to naturally produce hyaluronic acid, which means our skin and lips lose volume. This results in wrinkles, folds, and all the usual suspects we are so intimately familiar with. Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers temporarily replace the HA that your body has lost, leaving the face with a natural glow and a youthful plump that’s worth being jealous over. Below you’ll find some of the most common regions of the face that are targeted with lip filler and dermal filler treatments which involve HA.
- Forehead wrinkles and “worry lines”
- Frown lines between eyebrows
- Deflated or sagging brows
- Hollow temples
- Crow’s feet around the eyes
- Under-eye hollows or circles
- Lip augmentation
- Upper lip wrinkles or “smoker’s lines”
- Chin creases and dimples
- Cheek and cheekbones
- Marionette lines around the mouth
- Nasolabial folds and lines
The Importance Of A Trained Technician
More of an art form than a work of science, finding yourself a local med spa with experienced technicians is a vital part of the end-result. Because injectable fillers sculpt the face from the inside to contour the outer appearance of the face, injecting fillers has less to do with science and is, in our opinion, more like art than anything else. And while that might sound slightly inflammatory or even dramatic, we at Xanadu perform all injectable filler procedures with the utmost care and precision.
Our technicians are talented, trained, and well-practiced when it comes to complementing the natural beauty of a client’s facial makeup. Our technicians know exactly which brush to use (fillers vary in formulation and consistency), know how to canvas carefully, and bring about world-class results at the end of the day. Our patients consistently speak of how well we treat them from their first consultation to any follow-up treatments that might take place. We have the industry knowledge and care for our clients to be able to recommend them the right treatment plan that is within your budget. We are happy to sit down with you and have a free injectable consultation so that you are comfortable and excited about experiencing cosmetic injectables for the first time!
Fort Collins Juvederm Treatment
The US FDA approved Juvederm, which is often misspelled as Juvaderm, for the specific treatment of mild to moderate facial creases. This dermal filler involves injections which are utilized to smooth wrinkles, fill-out lips, and even act as a form of acne scar treatment. Other benefits from Juvederm include filling moderate wrinkles, volumizing severe facial folds, fill in under-eye hollows, soften scars, reducing the appearance of wrinkles on hands, enhancing cheek volume, and much more.
We at Xanadu Med Spa have found that Juvederm is our best-selling filler for two reasons in particular. The first is that its benefits last the longest of all of our hyaluronic acid fillers. Secondly, it is the least painful filler treatment to receive, due to the fact that it contains lidocaine. To touch on the first point, the HA that is used in Juvederm XC differs in formulation than other hyaluronic acid products currently on the market. Juvederm XC is manufactured with a smooth gel (as opposed to gel particle suspension in Restylane) so that those who experience Juvederm XC can experience a smoother, long-lasting effect than others.
Juvederm XC is available in the following four formulations:
- Juvederm Volbella XC is the thinnest formulation and is used to correct vertical lips lines, outline the lips and fill in hollows in the tear trough area under the eyes.
- Juvederm Ultra XC is a bit thicker than Volbella and is used for mild corrections in the nasolabial folds and for smoothing lips.
- Juvederm Ultra Plus XC has been our go-to filler for years. It has a thicker, plumping formula which is perfect for the lips.
- Juvederm Voluma XC is a formulation specifically designed to lift and add volume to the midface and cheeks.
While those at Juvederm (or indeed, Botox) would never tell you this, we will — when Juvederm XC is used in tandem with Botox, both products’ benefits will last much longer. Ask us about this possibility during your free consultation!
The next Juvederm treatment type we’ll be highlighting is Juvederm Volume, the first and only hyaluronic acid that has been approved by the FDA to actually restore volume loss of the cheeks. While other products might best be described as filling in lines, Juvederm Volume actively lifts.
Juvederm Voluma XC is uniquely formulated to add volume to all three areas of the cheek: the apex, apple, and hollow. And while many folks elect to try to resolve the volume loss of the cheeks via facelifts or other invasive procedures, Voluma XC is able to provide patients with a cross-linked formula which adds volume according to the natural contours of a particular face. Hence, Juvederm treatment in a great option for folks who are looking for more than simply filling in wrinkles, but aren’t interested in getting a formal facelift either. Patients surveyed in clinical trials of Juvederm Voluma XC said that they look as much as five years younger. But perhaps the most amazing part of this dermal filler treatment is that the effects of Juvederm can last up to two full years!
Juvederm Volbella XC
Xanadu Med Spa is thrilled to be able to offer Juvederm latest dermal filler treatment. Volbella SC is a Juvederm treatment that is designed to smooth the fine vertical lines found around the mouth and lips. Specifically formulated to target the finest, most-difficult to see lines around the mouth, Juvederm Volbella XC lasts much longer than comparable thin HA formulations that are available on the market. What’s more, Volbella XC can also be used to fill in tear troughs that are often found under the eyes.
Juvederm Volbella XC’s benefits don’t stop there, however. For clients who are interested in achieving a more precise shape of their lips, akin to a lip liner, Volbella smoothes out fine lines that can cause lipstick bleeding or creasing, while adding the natural “M” shape to cupid’s bow.
The long and short of it is that Volbella SC is an excellent option for those seeking a natural, subtle correction of fine lines. There is very little, if any, swelling that occurs from the treatment, and the effects typically last a full year!
